Less than five years after joining the International Fact-Checkers Network (IFCN), Hibrid.info marks another major and important step in international engagement, by becoming part of the IFCN Board.
Xhemajl Avdyli, Program and Development Manager at ADS/Hibrid.info, has been elected to the IFCN Board, after securing one of the two open European seats in this election cycle. His mandate is three years, with the possibility of re-election for a second term.

The selection of new IFCN Board members took place in two phases. In the European vote, Avdyli secured the highest support, with 56.4 percent of the vote, being selected for the final phase. In the global vote, he secured the necessary majority of votes and was elected as a member of the IFCN Board.
Through this mandate, Hibrid.info's experience and perspectives from Kosovo and the Western Balkans will be more directly included in discussions and decision-making processes on professional standards, information integrity, and the further development of the international community of fact-checkers.
The election of Hibrid.info's representative to the IFCN Board is an appreciation for our work in the field of information integrity, professional standards and international cooperation. This mandate is at the same time a responsibility to contribute to the further development of IFCN and to strengthen the global community of fact-checkers.
The Role of the IFCN Board
The Board is one of the main governance structures of the IFCN and is composed of representatives of organizations from different regions of the world.
It plays a direct role in the strategic direction of the Network, reviewing and ratifying IFCN's strategy and key initiatives. The Board also advises the Director and staff on programs, priorities, and issues that impact the further development of the Network and the international fact-checking community.
One of its responsibilities is to review and approve or reject the recommendations of external assessors for organizations applying to become signatories to the IFCN Code of Principles, as well as for the renewal of the status of existing organizations. Through this process, the Board directly contributes to maintaining the professional standards, integrity and credibility of the Network.
