Transparenca.info, an innovative app developed by HibridLAB, is designed to assess the transparency of online media in Kosovo. This app helps users evaluate their information sources based on three essential criteria, which are tracked in real time. The media transparency assessment process relies on publicly available media information, such as:
- Media registration with the Kosovo Business Registration Agency (ARBK) or as an NGO;
- Media membership in key media organizations, such as the Independent Media Commission (KPM) or the Press Council of Kosovo (KMSHK);
- The presence of specific sections on the media’s website, including details about the editorial staff, ownership, contact information, and an “About Us” section.
Based on these criteria, media outlets are categorized into one of the following four lists, which users of the app will see as a pop-up when visiting these media websites:
- Green List: Fully transparent media that meet all the above-mentioned criteria.
- Yellow List: Media that meet some criteria but still have room for improvement.
- Red List: Media with limited or weak transparency.
- Black List: Media that fail to meet the minimum transparency standards.
